Village (Birth to 18 Months)

FEATHERS (Sept. 2009 – Nov. 2009)

The musical poems of Woody Guthrie, bird songs, and the naturally occurring sounds in nature help babies develop an early appreciation – and accelerated aptitude – for language, movement, and music in this eight-week course.  Your At Home Materials include a CD with over 25 specially-selected recordings from class, a chime ball, a cardboard baby book with captivating pictures of birds, and Art Banner for the nursery wall that strengthens vision and promotes early literacy.

DO-SI-DO (Nov. 2009 – Jan. 2010)

Pick up your Baby and dance!  Do the Virginia Reel, the Charleston, the Tango, and the Cha-Cha and learn why dancing with your baby helps in the development of  vital learning skills–from head to toe. Enjoy exercising Baby to familiar rhymes such as "1-2, Tie My Shoe", "This Little Pig Danced a Merry, Merry Jig". Baby will explore with humongous scarves, paper plates, chime balls, drums, egg shakers and baby bells. You'll be helping your baby do-si-do his/her way to the balance, body strength, and body awareness needed to take first steps. Plus you'll learn why all that movement is so essential to brain development in the first year. Your At Home Materials include a CD with over 25 specially-selected recordings from class, a cardboard baby book filled with dancing bears, a unique toy, and Art Banner ready for laminating.

Our Time (1 1/2 years to 3 years)

WIGGLES AND GIGGLES (Sept. 2009 – Jan. 2010)

Toddlers are constantly on the go, and this unit is full of active songs and dances about boats and fish, about frogs and trotting horses.  There is a song from the West Indies about a donkey that eats with a knife and fork.  A special treat is being able to play the guiro in addition to all kinds of other percussion instruments.  The home CD includes more than 30 songs and 15 dances; and there are two books to help develop literacy.  And of course there is a special percussion instrument included in the kit.

Imagine That! (3 and 4 Years)

SEE WHAT I SAW (Sept. 2009 – Jan. 2010)

In this 15-week semester, your preschooler uses his real experience playing in the park to create imaginative, story-telling scenarios with music.  Each week provides your child with an uninterrupted session of imaginative play that is guided in a very specific, sequential way.  At Home Materials include 2 CD’s, 2 books, a Grasshopper Park Play Set, a Family Activity Book and a slide whistle instrument.
